Obituary for Barbara A. Kircher

Rochester: Barbara passed peacefully on September 15th, 2021 at the age of 91 with her family by her side.

Faith, family and friendship were the center of Barbara’s life. She and her husband, Paul, raised seven children on Arlington Drive in Pittsford, in a home that was filled with energy and constant activity, and where the entire family built happy and lasting memories. Barbara’s beautiful smile and laugh were the expression of her joyful spirit. She loved her Irish heritage. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She loved to dance. She loved nature, her walks with Paul on the hills of Monroe Golf Club, and the beach. Her talented singing voice and presence found their way to many performances in the McQuaid Parents’ Show and the St. Louis Ladies’ Guild. She was a volunteer of the Seton Group, in honor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton. Barbara, Paul and their children were lifelong members of St. Louis Parish, where Barbara sang in the choir. Barbara truly captured the friendship and admiration of so many, with her trusting nature and contagious happiness, and the youthful spark with which she lived each day.

Barbara was an only child, raised by her parents, Dennis and Irene Cooney, in Rochester. She was a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Grammar School, Nazareth Academy and St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She was a devoted and caring daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will forever cherish her, knowing that her spirit is with us always.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents, Dennis and Irene; her husband, Paul; and her grandson, Peter. She is survived by her children, Mary Pat (Phil) DeLozier, Barbara, John (Kimbra), Paul (Mel), Susan (Doug) Wylie, Julie (Eugene) Riddle, and Tommy; her grandchildren, Megan, Barbara, Elizabeth, J.P., Libby, Ben, Thomas, Joey, and Bridget; her great-grandchildren, Cole, Bennett, Cora, George, Ada, Miles, James, Eleanor, and Aiden; and her sister-in-law, Sister Sylvia Kircher.

No prior calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Louis Church, Pittsford, on Thursday, October 14th at 9:30am to celebrate Barbara’s life on this earth, and her eternal life to come.
