Obituary for Bernice J. Gauger
Rochester: Bernice passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the age of 98. Predeceased by her husband, Russell, son, Dennis, granddaughter, Cheryl, and all of her siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Gwen Gauger and Gail (John) Gauger-Keller, sons, Gary (Pat) Gauger and Russell Jr. (Barb) Gauger; 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Bernice was a teacher in the West Irondequoit school district and retired in 1979 after 35 years of teaching. She loved to bowl and did so in many bowling leagues over the years which is where she met her husband Russell when her nephew and Russell's son brought them together in a couples league. They were married on July 4th, 1970. Bernice was also a prize Scrabble player and enjoyed playing the game with her friends at St. John's Meadows and with her daughter and granddaughter when they would visit. She lived a very long and happy life and she will be missed by many.
Services will be held at a later date and Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery will be held privately.
