Obituary for Bernice Gunther

Born at the beginning of the Great Depression Bernice grew up in Rochester, New York the only daughter of Ann and Stanley Kalish. She attended Nazareth Academy and worked for a time as an administrative assistant for the CEO of RG&E where she met and married Donald Gunther in 1953. They raised five children in Irondequoit and ran Gunther’s grocery on St Paul Blvd. Later, Don and Bernice moved to Pembroke Pines, Florida where they spent 25 years playing golf with their Hollybrook friends. Bernice was an avid, talented bridge player achieving Sapphire Life Master status. She played daily, on-line, until her death, with people from all over the world. She was a kind, considerate, elegant woman who will be missed.

She is survived by four children, James, Karen (James) Noll, Richard and Walter, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren.

She will be buried January 21, 2022, Mt Hope Cemetery at 11 am with a lunch following at Shamrock Jacks ( 1:00 pm) in Irondequoit. All friends are invited to attend.
