Bernice was 91 years old and passed peacefully at home. She struggled with dementia for the last 6 years but remained very happy and cheerful. Her typical greetings were "I love you" or "You look so nice!" Bernice loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life centered on caring for her husband, Albert (Ike) Schum, and children. She also loved nature, gardening, and travel. Her Catholic faith was an integral part of her life. She also took great pride in her Flemish (Belgian) heritage. She will be sadly missed by her family. Her family would like to thank Dilenda, Teri, Cynthia, Alison, and Claudette who took such great care of Bernice and Ike in their final years. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 6th at 9:30am at Peace of Christ Parish @ St. Ambrose Church. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
