Obituary for Carol S. Troy (Schwab)

Carol Schwab Troy age 85, passed away Tuesday, October 13, 2020. Carol is survived by her three daughters: Susan (Ken) Hojnacki, Amy (Mike) Ballone, and Beth (David) Price; 7 grandchildren: Erin, Megan, Haley, Caitlin, Mitchell, Olivia, and Gillian. She was the daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth “Gladys” Schwab. She is predeceased by her sibling Margaret Beisheim and survived by sibling Janet Kirchner.

Born in New Brunswick, NJ and moved to New York as a baby, she became a life-long resident of Irondequoit, NY. She was devoted to her children and grandchildren. She was employed by Xerox Corporation as an Administrative Secretary for over 30 years and retired in 2000. She loved reading, gardening, golfing, “snow birding” in Myrtle Beach, SC; and was keenly interested in politics and current events. She enjoyed volunteering at Highland Hospital and Monroe County Board of Elections. She was exceptionally self-sufficient and competent in all ways; residing independently in her Irondequoit home for 56 years. An avid shopper she was famous for her thoughtful and carefully crafted “care packages” she would send to family members around the country, which were much anticipated and appreciated by all. Her summers were often spent on Keuka Lake with vacationing family members and friends where wonderful long lasting memories were made and are now cherished.

A memorial service is being planned for a future date. In lieu of flowers a donation can be sent in her remembrance to Mercy Flight Central (www.mercyflightcentral.org).
