Irondequoit. Elaine died peacefully on February 22 at age 94, after a brief illness, surrounded by family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John (Jack), her brother William McAvoy, and brothers-in-law Edward Fischer (Rosemary) and Greg Doyle.
She is survived by a large and loving family of eight children, their spouses, 26 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren.

Calling hours are 4-7pm on Friday, March 6 with prayer service in the Dreier-Giltner
Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday March 7 at 11:00am. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jack and Elaine were outstanding parents; a perfect blend of nurturers yet disciplinarians. The optimal combination for raising eight children. While at times they had a necessity to pinch pennies, their home was filled with an abundance of love, laughter and kindness. Their guiding principles, instilled at an early age, were simple: love, respect and a deep rooted work ethic. They encouraged each child to find their passion whether in scholastics, sports or career paths.
They cherished their time spent at their Duck Lake cottage, with family and friends on hand, the more the merrier!

After Jack’s passing, Elaine remained the Matriarch of the Fischer home. She showed fierce determination and independence, whether in maintaining the house, or in perfecting her golf game. She was a league member at Durand and Shore Acres for many years, celebrated a hole-in-one, and maintained friendships along the way.
She remained faithful to her beloved Yankees and Bills, always had an opinion on what the teams needed- better Pitchers or a new QB!

And now, though we will miss her dearly, we can all walk away with the fondest of memories of two lives well lived.
