Obituary for Jean Mary Owens

Jean Mary Owens was born in Swanley, in the county of Kent, England on March 14,1930 and passed on February 1, 2023 in Webster, New York.

Jean was the youngest of eight children born to Rose and Harry Excell, her father being the local police sergeant. She emigrated to Canada in the late 1950's and then happily settled in America. Jean was very devoted to her Lutheran faith and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for many years. Her faith led her to become a deacon and she actively volunteered her time whenever needed.

Jean treasured her trips back to England to stay close to her family there and her heritage. Her delightful accent captivated most who knew her. Her smile was infectious and she loved to laugh and tell jokes. She loved to travel and be in the company of good friends and family. Her family and friends were important to her and being surrounded by them brought her most joy.

Jean is predeceased by her siblings and husband Paul C. Owens. She is survived by her niece, Sue (Rob) Newman and three nephews Michael (Lesley) Excell, David (Sue) Miles and Nigel Excell all residing in England. Jean is also survived by her husband’s children Gregg (Peggy) Owens, Betsy (Steve) Lombardo and daughter in law, Jennifer Owens (Olivia, Max and Samuel).

Family and friends may remember Jean at White Haven Memorial Park All Seasons Chapel on Friday, February 10, 2023, at 10:00 am. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church or Lollypop Farms.
