Joanne was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels for many years. She enjoyed gardening, her tomato plants, playing cards, sitting on her porch, visiting with her neighbor Helen, and the Adirondacks. She loved, and made, pies and tasty strawberry jam. She most enjoyed spending time with her family. She was her children’s and grandchildren’s biggest fan and supporter. She was witty and told funny stories (unintentionally).
She also enjoyed her sweets: Lagomarcino’s chocolates and a good caramel. She taught us to enjoy life, to get outside, to be active, and to take advantage of all we have. She instilled in us a strong appreciation of the natural world. She loved unconditionally, was accepting, and had a strong faith. She lived a simple life, was quiet and unassuming yet spoke her mind when she felt the need.
Family and friends are welcome to call on Friday, October 8th from 4-7pm at the Dreier-Giltner Funeral Home 1717 Portland Ave. Joanne's Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 9th, 9:30am in St. Kateri Parish at St. Margaret Mary Church.
