Rochester: Born on May 31st, 1937 and was rewarded with eternal life on Monday, December 14th, 2020. She passed away peacefully at Kirkhaven Transitional and Long Term Care, where she was a resident for the past four months. Joanne is survived by her two sons, Darryl (Barbara) and Gregory Walczak; two sisters, Gertrude (Frank) Nowak and Patricia (Jim) Curtis; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Joanne was strong in her faith in God and loved her family with all her heart. She also loved to travel, gamble (bingo, casinos, scratch-off lottery tickets, it really didn't matter) and enjoy a beer or, in her later years, a glass of wine. Joanne worked as a home-maker, raising her two sons and then became a civil servant, where she held positions at the Irondequoit Public Library, Monroe County and Town of Brighton. After retirement, she worked part-time at Wegmans. Joanne also enjoyed spending time with her "Fun After 55" and "Young at Heart" social groups. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
No prior calling hours. Interment at the family's convenience. In lieu of flowers, Joanne and her family ask that you make a contribution to your favorite charity and buy a scratch-off for yourself.
