Many years ago, I was in New York celebrating a cousin's wedding and then years later again to visit my Uncle Bob, my mother's twin sister. It was during these visits in which I met and visited with my Great Uncle Joe. On the latter visit, I was invited to join family members at a country club luncheon. There were several of us seated at a restaurant table. My great-uncle Joe and his wife Lil, my Uncle Bob and my mother, Elizabeth were amoung the few. I had the pleasure of listening to Uncle Joe reminisce about his younger years when he first met Lil and fought in WWII. He had very intriguing stories to share. From the time, I began sending Joe emails on special days like Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Veteran's Day to thank him for his service, and to say hello. He would always respond with such a delightful email. Several years later, I asked him to send me information on his oldest sister, Evelyn, my grandmother who died when I was three. He spent time writing a three-page letter. Great Uncle Joe will be missed. What a great person he was.
