Obituary for Sr. Kathleen Bayer

Brighton: Sister Kathleen Bayer, RSM, called home by God on August 12, 2021 during her 71st year as a Sister of Mercy. She earned an AAS degree from Catherine McAuley College, BS in Education from Nazareth College, and Permanent Certification for teaching from NY State.

Her teaching ministries were at St. Thomas the Apostle, St. Rita, Webster, St. Ann’s, Hornell, St. Joseph, Penfield, Annunciation School, St. Mary’s, Corning and St. Salome’s. She then went to St. Raphael Hospital in CT for Clinical Pastoral Education. For the next 20+ years, she was a Pastoral Assistant at SS. Peter & Paul Parish for nine years, and Eastside Catholic Parish, Elmira for thirteen years.

Survivors include her sisters and brother, Theresa Addamson, Shirley Ford, and John Bayer, nieces, nephews, cousins, a very good friend, Elaine Harrington, and the Sisters of Mercy.

Conscious of the increased number of Covid cases in Monroe County and out of an abundance of caution, we will celebrate a Graveside Service for Sr. Kathleen Bayer on Tuesday August 17, at 10am. You are asked to meet at the Sisters' Plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.  A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a future date when it is safe to gather. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters
