Obituary for Sr. Mary Faith Francione

Brighton: God called Sister Mary Faith home, September 12, 2021, during her 76th year as a Sister of Mercy.
Sister Mary Faith entered the Sisters of Mercy from St. Michael’s Parish in Rochester. She graduated from Nazareth Normal School and Nazareth College where she earned a BS degree and Permanent Certification as a teacher. Sister M. Faith studied at Aquinas Institute of Religious Studies in MI where she received a MA Degree in Religious Studies. She taught in eight Diocesan Catholic Schools, was Principal at St. Joseph’s School in Penfield and Holy Family School, Auburn. Sister M. Faith also was a faculty and staff member at Our Lady of Mercy High School. Jail and Hospital Ministries became her work for eight years. In 2002 she received the Lifetime Achievement Award as a Woman of the Year from the Italian American Community Center. She was predeceased by her sister, Sister Mary Edith Francione.

Survived by nieces, nephews, many friends and the Sisters of Mercy.

Conscious of the number of Covid cases in Monroe County and out of an abundance of caution, we will celebrate a Graveside Burial Service for Sister Faith on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 10:00 AM. You are asked to meet at the Sisters' Plot at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be scheduled at a future date when it is safe to gather. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy.
