Obituary for Sr. Melchiora Miceli

Brighton: Sister Melchiora Miceli, RSM was called home by God on December 11, 2018, during her 69th year as a Sister of Mercy. Sister Melchiora earned her BS & MS in Early Childhood Education from Nazareth College. She taught in DOR Catholic schools in Clyde, Corning, Owego, Rochester, and Webster. After studying in the Deaf Dept. at SUNY Geneseo, she became a Substitute Special Ed. Teacher at the Rochester School for the Deaf and the Public School System. She ministered in Arizona as a Pastoral Associate for eight years at St. Joseph Hospital & as teacher at St. Jerome School, Arizona. She was chosen as the first representative from the DOR to be part of the NYS Advisory Committee on pastoral ministry to the Handicapped. Predeceased by father, Joseph, mother, Josephine Miceli and uncle, Rev. Nicholas Alletto. She is survived by brother, Charles, cousin, Thomas Alletto, many nieces, nephew, cousins and the Sisters of Mercy.
Friends are welcome Thursday, December 13, from 4 to 7 PM at Mercy Center, 1437 Blossom Road, where her vigil service will be held at 7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, December 14, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Mercy Center. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Donations in her memory may be made to the Sisters of Mercy.
