Obituary for Sr. Therese Richardson

Brighton: God called Sister Therese Richardson home, October 5, 2019, during her 76th year as a Sister of Mercy. Sister Therese entered the Sisters of Mercy after graduating from Elmira Catholic High in 1943. She received her BS in Education from Nazareth College, studied Theology, Scripture, and Canon Law at Providence College, Leadership Strategies at Dayton University, and Religious Education at St. Michael College, VT. She taught in Diocesan Catholic Schools for twenty eight years. After serving as a Principal for four years, she was elected to serve on the leadership team of the Sisters of Mercy. For seven years, she served as a staff member at Melita House. The Mercy Spirituality Center then became her ministry for thirty years. Pre-deceased by her parents John and Mary, and her brother Rev. John Richardson, OFM, she is survived by cousins and the Sisters of Mercy.

Friends are welcome Friday, October 11 from 4 to 7 PM at Mercy Center, 1437 Blossom Road, with a vigil service at 7 PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, October 12, 10 AM at Mercy Center. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
