Obituary for Gloria Ruocco Sr.

RUOCCO, S. Gloria, RSM (formerly S. M. Peter Claver) suddenly, Dec. 28, 2014. Sister Gloria entered the Sisters of Mercy in 1960 from Corning, NY. In her early days of ministry she taught in elementary schools in the Diocese of Rochester and completed her education ministry teaching French at Cardinal Mooney High School. In 1981 she followed her heart into social ministry, working in the So. Tier Office of Social Ministry for ten years. She then joined the staff at House of Mercy where she continued for over twenty years. She had a passion to work with and for those who are poor and was often found doing little things to make their lives easier. She was predeceased by parents, Joseph & Rose Ruocco, her niece, Krista Micheli, and her cousin, Fr. Neil Miller. Gloria is survived by her brother, Anthony (Theresa) Ruocco, sisters, Sr. Livia Ann Ruocco, RSM and Joanne (Thomas) Micheli, nieces and nephews and many cousins, including Sr. Grace Miller, RSM. Friends may call at Mercy Center, 1437 Blossom Rd. on Fri., Jan. 2, 2015 from 4 – 7 pm. A Vigil Service will follow at 7 pm. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Sat., Jan. 3 at Mercy Center at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning, NY. Donations in her memory made be made to the Sisters of Mercy or the House of Mercy.
