Obituary for Paul C. Kircher

Pittsford: Paul passed peacefully on June 22, 2013 at the age of 86. Paul was devoted to his family and faith above all, raising seven children with his wife, Barbara, leading each step of their wonderful family life on Arlington Drive in Pittsford, and supporting the education of all seven of his children through college and professional schools. He never missed Sunday mass; despite his love for golf, even Sunday tee times did not interfere with his devotion to the church. Paul was a brilliant man with many loyal friends, and he never ceased to surprise us with his dry humor, creative ideas and adventures. He was unwavering in his dedication to his family, serving as a model in honesty, respect, and modesty. We are blessed to share and laugh over the endless memories that he leaves with us.

Paul graduated from Webster High School and attended the University of Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal in the United States Army, and a New York State trooper. He was the founder and president of Kircher Insurance Agency and always held his work ethic to the highest standards. With great spirit, he excelled at athletics, playing the position of centerfield in AAA baseball with the farm team for the New York Yankees and later becoming an avid golfer, teaching his children his most favorite sport. Paul served as President of the Rochester District Golf Association, and he and Barbara have been members of Monroe Golf Club for more than 50 years. He donated generously to St. Louis Church and McQuaid Jesuit High School.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Agnes and Emil; his brothers David, Tommy and Jim; his sisters Suzanne and Andrea; and his grandson, Peter Riddle. He is survived by Barbara, his dear wife of 59 years who stood by and cared for Paul in her completely unselfish love for him, and who continues to hold her family above all else. Paul is also survived by his children Mary Pat (Phil) DeLozier, Barbara Kircher, John (Kimbra), Paul (Mel), Susan (Doug) Wylie, Julie (Eugene) Riddle, and Tom; his sister, Sr. Sylvia Kircher; his grandchildren, Megan, Barbara, Elizabeth, J.P., Libby, Benton, Thomas, Joey and Bridget; and his great-grandchildren, Cole and Bennett.

No prior calling hours. A Funeral Mass will be held to honor and celebrate Paul's life, at St. Louis Church, Pittsford, on July 9, 2013, at 11 a.m. Following the service, family and friends are invited to gather at Monroe Golf Club. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
